Buckingham Palace dropped an explosive statement last night, announcing that Andrew Mountbatten Windsor was being—at long last—evicted from The Royal Lodge and having his "prince" title formally stripped.

And apparently Prince William was fully supportive of the decision—and maybe even had something to do with it being pushed through. ITV's Chris Ship tweeted, "We understand that the Prince of Wales, fully supports his father’s actions against William’s Uncle Andrew" on October 30, adding, "The King’s decisions have the support of the wider Royal Family, sources say."

Meanwhile, Rob Shuter's #ShuterScoop claims, "Prince William is running the monarchy from the shadows" and that insiders say he "personally approved" removing Andrew’s title and that "every syllable of the statement carried William’s fingerprints."

"This was fast, brutal, and deliberate," one source said. "William wanted no debate. No appeals. No loopholes. He pushed it through."

That said, another source told the Daily Mail, "The Royal Family, including the Prince of Wales, fully support the King's leadership on this matter. These decisions have been the King's, with the support of the wider family. The process has been under way for some while, but there was a need to get it right in the face of some very big challenges."

"His Majesty has today initiated a formal process to remove the Style, Titles and Honours of Prince Andrew. Prince Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor. His lease on Royal Lodge has, to date, provided him with legal protection to continue in residence. Formal notice has now been served to surrender the lease and he will move to alternative private accommodation. These censures are deemed necessary, not withstanding the fact that he continues to deny the allegations against him."
